I’ve shared this exquisite dish by chef Pola Siv of @miecafe_siem_reap before, I know — and I guarantee that it tastes as sublime as it looks — but I’m sharing it again as it’s in our guide to the 15 dishes you have to try when you’re in Siem Reap, Cambodia’s culinary capital.

The list includes traditional dishes, such as Cambodia’s beloved noodle dish nom banh chok at @nom_pachok, num krok at @spoonscambodia, prahok ktis and fish amok at @sugarpalmrestaurant and Saraman curry at @malis_restaurant.

In case you missed our GT post on Tuesday, this week a special Angkor ticket offer was announced to allow visitors to Angkor Wat and Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap, Cambodia, to get two days at Angkor for the price of a one day ticket, five days for the price of three days, and ten days for the price of a seven day ticket.

The special 4-month offer, which started Tuesday and ends in June, will allow visitors to the sprawling UNESCO World Heritage listed site to take their time to more slowly explore the massive 400 square kilometre archaeological park and its dozens of temples, and have a deeper, richer, more immersive experience.

It means travellers who buy a 1 day Angkor Pass for US$37 will get 2 days in the park (effectively costing US$18.50 per day), a 3 day Angkor pass (for US$62) will get 5 days which you can use over a ten-day period (paying just US$12.40 per day), and those who choose a 7 day pass (for US$72) will get 10 days at Angkor, which can be spread over one month (for only US$7.20 per day). It’s hoped the offer will entice travellers to Siem Reap and inspire them to stay longer in the city, which has seen a decline in tourists due to a spate of badly researched stories advising travellers to avoid Angkor due to ‘over-tourism’ (it’s not over-touristed), and the recent global novel coronavirus outbreak, despite Cambodia having only one case of COVID-19 on the south coast and that person recovered.
